The Stanley C. Golder Center for Private Equity and Entrepreneurial Finance focuses its programs on the roles and the impact that private equity and its investors have in financing new and growing businesses as well as in the financing of recapitalizations and restructuring of existing enterprises.
Golder Center initiatives include training young professionals in courses, competitions and workshops designed around case studies; sponsoring research; and creating multiple outreach initiatives, including serving as a public forum for information exchange between academics and industry professionals at its annual Private Equity Conference.
The Center was established in honor of Stanley C. Golder, one of the pioneers of the modern private equity industry. Stan Golder ('51economics) was critical to the industry's evolution into a sophisticated, dynamic, and expanding segment of the capital markets He was an active teacher and mentor, frequently lecturing at Illinois and other institutions Stan, along with his wife, Joan ('53 English), was a generous benefactor of the College.
